A bit about the Evaluation System...
The Newington Public Schools is developing a Teacher and Administrator Evaluation System based on the State Department of Education's (SDE) legislation requirements and proposed model (SEED).
The Teacher and  Administrator Evaluation Resource tab above provides NPS Leadership with resources and documents to support our ability to effectively understand and apply these systems.  Below is a description of SDE's work.

SEED is a model evaluation that is aligned to the Connecticut Guidelines for Educator Evaluation, which were adopted by the State Board of Education on June 27, 2012. These Guidelines were developed by the Performance Evaluation Advisory Council (PEAC) and inform implementation of model teacher and administrator evaluation and support systems being piloted in districts throughout the state during the 2012-13 school year.
The Guidelines, along with SEED, were informed by research, including the Gates Foundation’s Measures of Effective Teaching (MET) study. The MET study and other research have consistently found that no school-level factor matters more to students’ success than high-quality teachers and leaders. To support teachers and leaders, we need to clearly define effective practice, develop systems and practices that give accurate, useful information about strengths and development areas, and provide opportunities for growth and recognition throughout the career continuum. Connecticut’s new evaluation and support model is designed to fairly and accurately evaluate teacher and leader performance in order to help strengthen practice to improve student learning.
The pilot year will provide feedback to refine SEED for the 2013-14 school year when all Connecticut districts will implement a new educator evaluation system. In early 2013, districts can (1) adopt the final state model, SEED, in its entirety; (2) adapt SEED in accordance with the Guidelines; or (3) develop a district model fully-aligned to the Guidelines that best suits their local context.
